Privacy Policy
1. Introduction
Welcome to Oromo Calendar (also known as Dhahaa). We are committed to protecting your privacy and handling your personal data with transparency and care. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and your rights regarding your information.
By using the Oromo Calendar app, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
2. Data We Collect
We collect the following information to provide and improve our services:
- Name and email address — collected during account creation and registration.
- Device ID — used for session management, device-limit enforcement, and subscription tracking via RevenueCat.
- Approximate location (country only) — used at the time of payment to determine which payment method applies: Ethiopian users are routed to Chapa via our website (oromocalendar.com), and international users to Apple Pay or Google Pay for in-app purchases, or to card payment via Stripe when subscribing on our website. Your country is used only to determine the correct payment method and is not retained for tracking or profiling.
- Purchase history — subscription transaction records used to manage your active plan.
- Wallpaper download history — tracked to enforce per-account download limits.
- Crash logs and diagnostic data — anonymized information about crashes and app performance, collected via Google Firebase (Crashlytics) to help us debug issues and improve stability.
3. How We Use Your Data
Your data is used strictly for the following purposes:
- Account creation and management — to register, authenticate, and maintain your account.
- Payment processing — to route payments through Chapa via oromocalendar.com (for Ethiopian users), Apple Pay / Google Pay via the App Store and Play Store (for in-app purchases), or Stripe for card payments made on oromocalendar.com.
- Subscription management — to track and validate your active subscription plan.
- Download limit tracking — to enforce fair usage of wallpaper downloads per account.
- App improvement — to analyze crash reports and usage patterns for enhancing app performance and user experience.
4. Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal data. We share limited information only with the following trusted third-party service providers required to operate the app. Most process data on our behalf and on our instructions; where a provider instead determines its own purposes for the data — as payment providers do for fraud prevention and legal compliance — that is stated below. Each maintains its own privacy and security standards:
- RevenueCat — subscription management and in-app purchase validation.
- Chapa — secure payment processing for Ethiopian users who subscribe via oromocalendar.com.
- Stripe — secure card payment processing for subscriptions purchased on oromocalendar.com. When you pay by card, your card details are submitted directly to Stripe and are never received or stored by us. Stripe receives your email address, billing country, IP address and payment details in order to process the payment, prevent fraud, and meet its own legal and tax obligations. Stripe acts as an independent controller for that data and processes it under its own Privacy Policy.
- Google Firebase — crash reporting and diagnostic analytics (Firebase Crashlytics) used to monitor and improve app stability.
- Google Sign-In and Apple Sign-In — optional authentication via your Google or Apple account.
- Apple and Google — payment processing for in-app purchases made through the App Store and Play Store.
Some of these providers process data outside Ethiopia, including in the European Union and the United States. Where data is transferred internationally, it is processed under the safeguards those providers maintain, such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.
We never sell, rent, or trade your personal information to any third party.
5. Data Security
We take the security of your data seriously:
- Encrypted in transit — all data transmitted between the app and our servers is protected using HTTPS / TLS encryption.
- Secure storage — personal data is stored securely and access is strictly limited to authorized personnel only.
6. Data Retention
We retain your personal data only for as long as your account remains active or as needed to provide our services. When you delete your account, all associated personal data is permanently removed from our systems, except where we are required to retain limited transaction records to comply with legal, tax, or accounting obligations.
7. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Correction — request that we correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
- Deletion — delete your account and associated data at any time (see Section 8).
- Data portability — request a copy of your data in a portable format.
- Withdraw consent — withdraw your consent to data processing where processing is based on consent.
- Complaint — lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at support@oromocalendar.com.
8. Account Deletion
You have the right to delete your account and all associated data at any time.
To delete your account:
- Open the Oromo Calendar app.
- Go to Settings.
- Tap Delete Account.
- Confirm your request.
Upon deletion, all your personal data — including your profile, subscription records, download history, and any associated information — will be permanently removed from our systems. This action is irreversible.
9. Children's Privacy
Oromo Calendar is not directed at children under the age of 13 (or the minimum age of digital consent in your country, such as 16 in parts of the European Union). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under this age. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us at support@oromocalendar.com and we will delete it promptly.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
